![]() It needs to be in the BOINC Data directory. You will need a remote_hosts.cfg file on the computer doing the controlling. You can also start multiple instances of BOINC Manager and thus have each manager connected to a different machine :)įorgot to tell BOINC uses port 31416 for connections, so firewalls needs to accept connections on that port! Default the password is generated by BOINC and is different on different computers, so you'll have to look it up in the other machine. You can also change that password if you want, but make sure BOINC is not running when doing that. Your info-page here says you're running WinXP so you can find the password in the file "gui_rpc_auth.cfg", in your main BOINC-folder (versions = 6.x.x). To connect to another machine I find it best to use the IP-address (local IP-address on local network, not external IP-address). Password should be filled out automatically when doing that :) To get it to connect again to your local machine type "localhost" (without the quotes) as Host name. The online help glosses over this option without really explaining what to do. BM seems completely dead except that trying to do anything with it's menu seems to take an excessively long time. Trouble is, I now cannot see this machine OR the other. The BM icon in the tray says "Not connected to a client". ![]() The result of that was BM now appears to be disconnected from this machine. I entered the machine name, (I used the Windows name for that machine), and my regular password for that machine. ![]() I tried to connect BM on this machine to BM on the other using the option. So when I want to look at the other machine, I disconnect the screen from one machine and connect it to the other as in, I take the screen cable plug from the graphics card on one machine and plug it into the graphics card on the other machine.įollowing health problems, I have a moderate disability, plugging the screen from machines is a real chore, so was looking for a convenient way to manage both machines BOINC activities and found the "Select Computer" option in BM's menu. ![]() In the room here, I have 2 machines running BOINC.I used to have 2 screens, but space and wife decided that I would have to make do with one screen. ![]()
